Staying awake was an uphill battle at this point. Every time Phoenix opened his eyes, his head had slid just a bit further than the last, and he found the movie making less and less sense even when he bothered paying attention. It occurred to him to say something, perhaps ask Zelos if he’d like to leave, but Phoenix was afraid if that if he stirred now, he would be wide awake and alone, in much the same position he had been before his friend arrived.
As his eyes drifted closed for the last time, he hoped Zelos didn’t mind being a pillow.
