I finally broke down and took the computers to a repair shop on Friday. Turns out it really was your regular, run of the mill computer virus, but it was a nasty one that they'd apparently never seen before. They ended up having to replace both of my hard drives, so I lost everything... Personal files and work files alike.
Hey, Mikaela? I still have the old hard drives if Bumblebee is willing to take a look at them. From what I understand, they're pretty fried, so I'm not sure what he'd be able to do. Don't worry if it turns out he can't do anything. Although I'm not thrilled with the prospect of redoing my work, if that's what it comes down to, then that's what it comes down to.
...My cell phone had to be replaced, too. I lost the Steel Samurai ring tone. I have yet to figure out if I'm grateful for this or saddened by the loss.

Sometimes I forget how much of a talker my mom is. I called her at around noon today and we didn't get off the phone until after three. Come to think of it, it was probably a lot closer to four...
We did a lot of catching up. I should probably call more often. Actually, I need to call more often (and nobody's better at reminding me of that than she is...), but it always turns into one of those things you promise yourself you're going to do and keep putting it off until you realize it's been more than a month since your last call. She must think I'm the worst son ever.
I hope I can make it out there next Mother's Day, or maybe afford to bring her and Dad over here. I think they'd enjoy that.

I've been having some trouble with my internet service provider. Seems they decided last weekend was a good time to disconnect me, so until this gets cleared up, I probably won't be around much.
