031 [Locked from Dahlia / von Karma]
[Private; Hackable]
While being away was relaxing, I spent a lot of time thinking about everything that's happened within the last four months. To say it was overwhelming would be an understatement. It was sobering to think about how long I've stuck around given the unusual circumstances we often unwillingly find ourselves in, and even more surprising to consider the fact that more people don't end up taking extended vacations or leaving altogether.
When I think of the people I've met, though, and the friends I've made, it's obvious why I've stayed, why I came back, and why I would keep coming back. I wouldn't be surprised if others felt the same way.
That line of thought leads to a conflict of interest.
I left on the heels of those "secret" posts and didn't get a chance to have some questions answered. Two weeks away only made the questions pile up, but I haven't figured out how to tackle them yet.
In court, you don't think about whose feelings you're going to hurt; you ask the questions and obtain the answers in whatever way you can with the hope that those answers will lead you to the truth. This isn't a trial, though. I'm a friend before I'm a lawyer and honesty is something I value in a friendship, but the more I think about it, the more I wonder if there are certain things others are just better off not knowing.
But that's the point of view of a hypocrite and a coward, the easy way out. If there's anything I know for sure, it's that having secrets hanging between us can damage what we have just as much, if not more than, what's perceived as an ugly truth.
I have a feeling I'm going to be making some difficult choices.

Hey, I wanted to let you guys know that I'm back.
Did I miss anything? How is everyone?

You don't have to do that. I'll pick something up. Do you want anything?
