I've been having some trouble with my internet service provider. Seems they decided last weekend was a good time to disconnect me, so until this gets cleared up, I probably won't be around much.

I haven't missed anything important, have I? Did anyone figure out why we were all tied up?

No. The names of the villages are determined by the terrain. Konoha has an alternate title as the "Village Hidden in the Leaves," while my village, Suna, is also known as the "Village Hidden in the Sand."

(OOC: Actually, I like that. :D Gaara usually is the one that asks people a lot of questions, so it's nice to have it going the other way around for once, hehe. ^_^ Besides, I'd like them to become friends. Is that cool with you? <3 Besides, Phoenix is a lawyer. Of course he asks a lot of questions by default.)

I see. So what determines your countries' names? Are they all named after elements? Unless I'm mistaken and the Land of Fire is another title.

Yes. They are all named after the elements most strongly associated with them. The shinobi in the Land of Fire specialize in fire techniques, while the shinobi from my lands specialize in wind techniques.

(OOC: Gaara has never been shy about asking questions either, hehehe. I remember he paused in the middle of battle to ask his opponent about the special kind of jutsu he had. XD)

Techniques? You mean those elements are somehow incorporated in their weaponry?

((OOC: Haha, awesome. XD I've never read or seen Naruto (though I've been meaning to), so Phoenix and I will be learning things at the same time!))

Typically, the techniques themselves are our weapons. Although there are some shinobi that prefer to wield a sword, mace, flail, club, or others of those types in addition to their ninja skills.

Our techniques are usually aligned with an element. For example, my sister can create wind attacks with her fan.

Magic doesn't exist in my world. Our techniques require spiritual energy to execute.

Do you have knowledge of magic and spellcasting?

Not exactly. I have a friend who comes from a world where magic is commonplace, though I've never seen it for myself. Spiritual energy is something I can at least identify with. Two very close friends of mine are spirit mediums.

Spirit mediums? As in, communication with the dead?

My friend Johnny can cast magic spells by using something called "Crests."

Sort of. They don't communicate with the deceased themselves; they channel spirits and allow those still alive to communicate. It's... really something.

I've never heard of "Crests." My friend Zelos casts magic using an energy source called mana. From what I understand, it's the energy source for his entire world.

Hmm. Interesting. Our spiritual energy is called chakra.

Er... Let me see if I can explain it better...

Basically, a medium allows a spirit to completely possess their body, losing control of their own thoughts and actions in the process. (They even take on the physical appearance of the deceased, which is... Well, suffice it to say, if you aren't expecting it, it can be quite a shock.) The spirit can then communicate with the living as if they were still alive themselves.

It's not a particularly well-known ability on my world and many think it's fraudulent; in fact, I wouldn't believe it myself if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes several times. But trust me... there isn't anything fake about it.

So is chakra what you use to employ your... techniques?

That sounds... quite remarkable. I must see this for myself.

Yes. Depending on the chakra storage capabilities, a shinobi may use techniques multiple times, or if it's a very high-level skill, only a limited number.

Maybe I can introduce you to my assistant some time.

What determines a shinobi's storage capabilities?

All right.

Actually, it depends on each individual ninja. But the more chakra we can store, the better it is for us to emerge victorious from battle, as well as successfully carrying out our missions. We are capable of increasing our chakra capacity.

So there are no ninjas in your world, eh?

Do you battle often?

Not that I'm aware of. Not any real ones, at least.

Before I became the Kazekage, yes. Now, I must adhere to my duties and stay in my village as often as I can.

What is your occupation?

Sorry, I'm not sure what a Kazekage is... It sounds like a very important title, though. Why did you battle so often before then? Are you at war?

I'm sorry. I should have used a different term. It simply means I am the leader of my village.

War breaks out rather frequently within the Five Great Nations. However, that is not the reason why I had fought so often before. It is expected in the life of a shinobi, due to dangers that surround us, as well as the nature of our missions.

Oh. So you deal primarily with the judicial system in your world, correct?

That's correct. I defend people charged with wrongdoing.

There are many different kinds, including: locating an item, gathering information, acquiring scrolls, or even assassinations.

If I remember correctly, there is an attorney that prosecutes, and one that defends. Why have you decided to become the one that defends? Is there any particular preference?

Yes. Usually, only high-ranking shinobi are given those types of missions.

Maybe. If you want the truth, I initially did it to help one person in particular. Now I do it make sure justice is served. Is that virtuous?

However... I would prefer not to have that scenario turn up. I value life a great deal now, especially since... Never mind.
