In related news, I'm finally done catching up with all of my e-mails and voice mails. I never thought it'd take so long to get through two months of backlog, but I guess you don't realize how much stuff you get until it all piles up. At least I don't have to worry about it anymore...

That's never really been a problem for us. How did it work out?

I'm not sure, but my guess is not good enough. They restructured it further by mandating that trials can't last any longer than three days.

I don't think that would be constitutional here. I'm almost certain it would be ruled a violation of Article 37.

Yeah... Our judicial system isn't in the best shape it could be. A friend and I are trying to get some changes made, but it's a slow process.

Ours isn't the greatest, either. There's a lot of corruption, in the police and the courts.

We use AIs to eliminate as much judicial bias as we can, but it's only for procedural matters and doesn't affect the actual judgment.

Sort of. They're computer programs capable of independent logical thought.

Huh. What are their roles in the process?

They assist with procedural decisions during a trial. Sustaining or overruling objections, that kind of thing. The final decision is with the judge, but they usually follow whatever the majority from the AI panel is.

It seems that way to me. I've never been on the witness stand, though.
