...To a less exaggerated level. There may have been some impulse there, an impulse that is there still, but there are many checks and restraints in place that weren't reflected in the Shadow. It was in no way the...true self it claimed to be.

Clearly, he hasn't left me. I doubt he'll ever leave me completely.

Things seemed...simpler then. I allowed myself to believe I knew who I was and what place I was meant to occupy. There were very few complications in my life, and I knew how to react to the ones I'd been dealt.

But everything I believed I knew was false...and I was...

I would not go back to that.
